Hi!
I’m making some minor changes here at Mess. One of which is that I would like to hear a lot more from all 17K+ of you. So I’m following in the footsteps of
’s Threads and kicking off what I’m hoping will become a regular feature (your chit-chat willing) that I’m tentatively calling Frank Talk. If you have a better name, please tell me. If there’s something specific you’d all like to talk about, please tell me that too. Comments are normally for paid subs only, but this thread is open for all to enjoy. This week, I thought we could get started with some Frank Talk about the Tony Awards. Namely:
What was your least favorite outfit at the Tony Awards? How would you have fixed it? Can an outfit be unfixable?
What are your thoughts on velvet suits? What about purple velvet suits? (There were a lot of both last night. What does it mean?)
What is a piece of theater that blew you away recently? The livestream chat told me Death Becomes Her is a must-see! And based on the director’s Tonys look alone, I believe it.
Ok see you in the comments!
I think the velvet suit has become the default for men looking to make more of a “choice” on red carpets. And by being the default step up from a basic tux for long enough, it has become boring!! Cant say its ever been my favorite but I’ll take it over NO texture at ALL. I feel more inclined to forgive it at the Tony’s. Feels like a bit of an ode to the big proscenium curtains of the silver stage in this particular context.
also loved cole's nod to bernadette, that's the kind of fashion i'm living for (wig was good too)
